PBSO Offers Caring Support Services to Bereaved Parents
Dotted line

For parents, losing a baby is an unthinkable tragedy. We at PBSO understand, and are here to help. PBSO is a charitable organization that provides special support services to parents who have had a baby die through ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, medical termination, stillbirth or newborn death.

At PBSO, the type of loss isn’t the big issue. But what does matter is how parents and their surviving children cope with the overwhelming grief that often follows such tragic events. That’s where PBSO can help.

Through a network of incredibly dedicated Volunteers, PBSO provides support services to parents across Ontario. Many of our Volunteers are bereaved parents, but others are bereaved grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles. Some are simply community members who care about this issue. Regardless of their connection and their role, they all play an important part in helping parents through the grieving process, so that they can move on to lead productive lives, to care for their families and to enjoy life once again.

But it takes time, and it takes people. Our organization is growing rapidly and we are reaching into many new communities. However, to provide quality support services to bereaved parents, we need more trained Volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a PBSO Volunteer, and would like more information on the organization please take a moment to move through the orientation web site. It should take you about 30 minutes to complete. You have two ways to navigate through the site. Either by following the link arrows on the bottom of each page which will allow you to visit pages in order, or, by site navigation which will let you visit pages in any order you wish. You’ll have a chance to meet some of the key staff members, learn about PBSO’s history and get an overview of the unique support services we provide. Should the idea of becoming a PBSO Volunteer appeal to you, simply click on the "Get Involved" button where you can complete an on-line application at any time. Once submitted, a PBSO representative will contact you and discuss which Volunteer role you can fill within the organization. Once decided, you can be fully trained on-line, at your own pace.

We hope you decide to become a PBSO Volunteer. You’ll find that your work will be very rewarding as you help PBSO support bereaved parents and their surviving children all over Ontario.
