Subsequent Pregnancy Support
Helping Parents
Start Again |
 |
Bereaved parents who have decided to have another child
have unique concerns. Fears that a loss may happen again are common,
so sharing these feelings with others helps parents ease many of the
uncertainties experienced during the pregnancy.
Subsequent Pregnancy Support Groups are held in a number of Ontario
communities. |

| How Subsequent Pregnancy Support Groups Work |
 |
|
PBSO is a self-help organization, so just like the
Bereavement Support Groups, parents who want to attend a Subsequent
Pregnancy Support Group must refer themselves by calling the PBSO
line and leaving a message. A trained PBSO staff member who is also
a bereaved parent, will return the calls and speak with parents. At
that point the staff member will direct parents to the nearest Subsequent
Pregnancy Support Group.
So that expectant parents receive the compassionate support they need,
fully trained Volunteer bereaved parents who have had subsequent pregnancies
following a loss, facilitate all Subsequent Pregnancy Support Groups.
For parents who do not live near a Subsequent Pregnancy Support Group
location, PBSO offers a 1-To-1 Support Service (see section on 1-to-1
Support for more details.) Parents will be matched with a trained
Volunteer bereaved parent who has experienced a subsequent pregnancy
so that experiences can be shared over the telephone or via e-mail. |
